Regenerative Community Development

Regenerative Community Development

Regenerative community development is a holistic approach that brings together environmental justice, community organizing, and the solidarity economy to re-build and sustain a just local economy (defined in terms of resources, not just finance) from the ground up. We learned the term from colleagues practicing it, such as Thunder Valley Community Development Corporation in Pine Ridge, South Dakota, the Sweet Water Foundation in Chicago, Illinois, and the Cooperative Community of New West Jackson in Jackson, Mississippi. In our partnerships with those practicing community development, we use this vision as our guiding inspiration.
